The four main characters in this book are:

-Pippi    

Pippi is a strange kid. For one thing, she is so strong that she can pick up a horse. For another thing, she wears really weird clothes. Pippi has been all around the world and now lives alone in a house with a garden. She has a knack for making ordinary things interesting and adventurous.

 -Tommy and Annika 

Tommy and Annika are siblings. They are ordinary and are much more orderly than Pippi. They are Pippi's neighbors and best friends with her. They want the best for Pippi but it usually turns into a mess.                                                                                                                                                             -Mr. Nilsson (a monkey)

Mr. Nilsson is Pippi's pet monkey that loves adventure. Pippi dresses him in a hat and clothes. He even has a dolls' bed that he sleeps in. Pippi loves her pet.

She has crazy  red pigtails, no parents to tell her what to do, a horse that lives on her porch, and a pet monkey named Mr. Nilsson. Whether Pippi's scrubbing her floors, doing arithmetic, or stirring things up at a fancy tea party, her flair for the outrageous always seems to lead to another adventure.
